French homes & buildings have staircases, from classic 19thc steep spiraling Paris hotels stairs with their steel posts and ball Newels. I always adore the 18thc black curing wrought iron balusters, contrasting against creamy white limestone or marble. There are steep dark heavy timber’s in ancient stone cottages. Such humble origins & some with small features of aspiration design showing the pride in the most simple homes. There are cellar stairs from ladders to wobbly old open timber’s, to stone spiral staircases with treads worn with age. Grand central stairs spirally g up in 5 story apartment buildings. No matter what house you visit or own in France you will have your own staircase story to tell. From cellar to attics we all go constantly up & down.
